Menopause and Anxiety

Menopause and Anxiety

by: Cathy Taylor

The mid-life phenomenon known as menopause and the stresses of anxiety go hand in hand. Panic attacks, rushes of energy, burning in the chest, unusual vibrations throughout the body, and warm sensations are some of the physical effects you may feel under this condition.
When menopause hits, there is a greater chance women will go through anxiety and depression. Christian Northrop talks about this phenomenon in her book, Wisdom of Menopause, where if a woman has repressed something in her life, she won’t be able to get past menopause employing the same tactics. For example, unexpressed anger will find its way out and sometimes in unusual or uncomfortable ways.
In what is often referred to as a ¨midlife crisis,¨ this time of life forces women to re-eva...

1. Invite your girlfriends over for a Back-to-School tea. Have lots of “pamper me” items in hand. Do you – or any of your friends – know a massage therapist? Ask her to come and do backrubs. Eat decadent pastries and drink coffee or tea. Catch up on everything you’ve missed during the hectic summer.
2. Go on a hike or a bike ride all by yourself.
3. Start a circle journal to keep in touch with your friends. A circle journal (aka. “a round robin”) is a book that goes back and forth among friends, each of whom add a special contribution before passing it on...

Her Cries For Help Are Real!!

by: Dorothy Lafrinere

Throughout my dealings with women from all over the world, I have met so many that are in a prison of pain and frustration. Through my website, they search desperately for a way out of this prison. They want so desperately to be heard.
Her Cries for help are genuine. She is not inventing her worries, nor is she so bored with her life that she is imagining things and creating her own miseries.
Her Cries for help are misinterpreted as nonsensical emotions. They are even viewed as insecurities. Some even become very defensive towards, “Her Cries for Help”, and take it as a personal attack of mistrust.
Her Cries for Help, are not without reason...

How to Wind a Wrist Watch

How to Wind a Wrist Watch

by: Sandy Parke

Many of my lovely lady customers write to me after they purchase an antique wrist watch with a mechanical movement asking which is the correct way to wind a watch. They ask if it needs to be wound forward or both forward and backward. And they also ask how much should they wind it, how often should they wind it, and how to tell if there is real resistance at the end of the wind?
How to wind it. When you wind a ladies antique wrist watch, hold the watch in the left hand and use the right index finger and thumb on the winding stem. The only direction that is actually winding it is the forward direction. The backward direction is available on many watches only for the purpose of resetting your thumb to be in the right position to wind forward again...

Panda Jewelry: an Eye on Our Endangered Wildlife

by: Sam Serio

Thinking of an adorable motif to wear or give away to friends, but tired of cliches? Maybe you’ve bought too many ballerina figurines or puppy plushies. It’s time to experiment with a different theme. The idea of panda jewelry is a unusual and is associated with environmental and ecological issues.
If you want to distinguish yourself from the boring routine of giving away cute cuddly teddy bears or bear-motifed cards for Christmas or a birthday, opt for something different by considering panda jewelry. After all, bears are always cute — but pandas are exotic BESIDES being cute.

Morning Sickness – All Day Sickness!

Morning Sickness – All Day Sickness!

by: Beverley Brooke

Morning sickness should be referred to as all day sickness. While some women will sail through pregnancy with nary a symptom of nausea, others will find themselves severely ill for weeks on end.
Morning sickness is actually a misnomer. It can strike at any time any day for several days at a time. Most women will experience morning sickens during their first trimester, when hormone levels are rapidly rising to prepare the body to carry your baby to term.
Morning sickness can be worse in the morning, usually because you have an empty stomach. However it is not uncommon for it to strike midday or even in the evening...

Bless Your Child With the Name

Bless Your Child With the Name

by: Sam Steven

What a dreamer I am when thinking about parenthood. Most of the time, I do this without knowing to whom my heart will belong and who will share that sacred responsibility. Even though, I am connected with the billions of souls that have always faced the stars at night to decide on what would be the perfect name for our not-yet-conceived little angels
“If is a boy… I’ll name him…; or if is a girl… I’ll name her…” And yes, it is far more important to ask the spirits for the baby to come healthy, but at least our children should have the right to know when people outside the family are referring to them.
Although I’ve heard some funny names, I am not in a position to say that any parent wasn’t serious enough...

What is “Ugg” Means? Where can I Find Sheep Skin Boots?

by: Brian Fong

The origin of the Australian ugg boot has a variety of stories as to how and when the ugg sheep skin boots were actually invented. One of the versions has the sheep skin footwear as the boot worn by pilots during World War One. These boots were referred to as “Fug Boots” denoting their use as ugg boots used for flying. In the 1930’s, Blue Mountain Ugg Boots were commonly worn by sheep shearers for their added warmth over regular footwear. “Apache Ugh Boots” were fashioned by Mortel’s Sheepskin Factory in the 1950‘s. By the 1960’s surfers were wearing their own version of the boot, finding them an easy and comfortable way to warm up after surfing the cold Australian waters.

The Question is the Answer

The Question is the Answer

by: Adela M. Rubio

Your world is surrounded by questions. Questions which beg answers. How often do you tune into the questions that permeate your being – the questions that tug at your heart and beckon your soul? History is full of men and women who have entered the hallowed halls of greatness because they have asked the questions that rumbled through their senses and found an answer in their everyday being. They have discovered what we all deeply know – that the Universe conspires with us!
I wonder where I would be today if I hadn’t asked these questions:

How can I heal my shattered being?
How can I end this marriage and still be a good mom?
What if I could do a cabaret show in NYC?
What if I could manage technology for this law firm?
How can I have an ...

Mindfulness and Marriage: Moving Along

Mindfulness and Marriage: Moving Along

by: Maya Talisman Frost

Marriage has to be the greatest opportunity for mindfulness on the planet.
I used to think that parenting took top honors, but really, a good marriage lasts a lot longer than a good childhood. After all, the kids do move out eventually, but the spouse stays.
Never the type to do things half-heartedly, my husband and I up the ante when it comes to spending time together. We have breakfast together. We ride to work together. We work all day together. We ride home together. We eat dinner together. We go to bed together.
This could be a recipe for disaster, but instead, we think it’s the coolest thing ever, and we never take that for granted.
With all that proximity, we have learned tremendous patience and we’ve got a killer sense ...

Looks or Heart?

No matter how you want to spin it, beautiful people are just that, beautiful. However, to what degree does it play into you finding your perfect match?
Seemingly, most of us are engulfed by a blitzing media that sells everything from lingerie to exotic cars with some gorgeous blonde or brunette sitting next to it. An idea that if it’s candy to the eyes, it will sell to the general public more readily.
While this concept is hardly new and not far from the truth, how important of a factor does it play in landing someone that you could see yourself spending the rest of your days with?
You would be surprised how shallow many adults are!
The idea of bypassing personality for the most part and simply sizing up a prospects physical attributes for a potential lo...

Slimmer Legs … Stress-Free

by: Gordon Black

Well, with the success of my article, “Wrinkle Remover That WORKS!!”, I realize that there is a really strong interest in getting information that is going to do something for you, rather than generalities that come under the “same old thing” category. And, as you know if you read the article, we found a great and effective cream that does a knockout job of actually reducing wrinkles.
Funny thing is that the product started out as a solution to a completely different problem (and they tell you all about that on the web link I mentioned in the article), which is kind of like the situation of the equestrian horse product, a coat conditioner, that was flying off the shelves and it took an incredulous tack shop owner’s question to uncover the mystery...

How Do I Clean My Cosmetic Brushes?

by: Adem Martin del Campo

Brushes are often overlooked. We use them then simply throw them back in our make-up case not caring much for the condition we leave them. This is usually the reason why the brushes we buy do not last as long as we hoped for. So what is proper brush care and what are the benefits it will give you besides longevity? When applying your make-up, your brushes mix with your cosmetics as well as the oils on your skin...
